Olumirin Water Falls

Erin Garden is a thick forest, which houses Erin ljesa waterfalls, which lies some kilometers east of llesa on the llesa-Akure Road.

According to custodian of the waterfall, it was said to have been founded by a woman called Akinla, a granddaughter of Oduduwa, in the year 1140AD, during the migration of the Ife people to Erin ljesa.

The water flows among rocks and splashes down with great force to the evergreen vegetation around. The area can also serve for mountaineering exercise.

The breeze at the waterfalls is cool and refreshing. The whole scenery is fascinating and idyllic. The waterfall is used for drinking and as medicine by indigenes and other tourists alike.

Erin-ljesa as part of South Western Nigeria falls within the tropical climatic belt with alternating hot dry and a warm humid seasons. Atmospheric temperatures only slightly from 30-340C ranges while the annual rainfall averages 1500cm.

The access road leading to Oluminrin Waterfall has been improved and graded while recreational facilities are being provided in the interest of tourists.

The development plan of Osun State Government is to build chalets that will accommodate tourists among other plans.Tourists are allowed to visit the Fall throughout the year.
